Heteronormative narratives are where heterosexual gender roles are the only acceptable way of life. These cultural narratives, including those represented in stories, poems, articles, etc. would have the male characters following male stereotypes while only be attracted to female characters, and vice versa for the female character roles. For example, Pride and Prejudice, Little Women, and The Great Gatsby. Viable attraction between the same sexes is not pursued in these narratives because these relationships do not follow heterosexual models.
